For many women, summer is anything but relaxing. The warm weather promises freedom and fun, but in reality, the season often arrives with its own kind of pressure: kids off school, endless social plans, disrupted routines, and a strange tension between rest and productivity.
At We Are Fit Attitude (WAFA), we recognise this pattern. Summer can throw even the most consistent woman off her game. But instead of pushing harder or giving up entirely, we believe in adjusting your expectations and staying present.
Embracing the Season, Not Resisting It
Summer is a time of transition. And with transition comes the need for reflection. You might feel out of sync, tired, or even a little unmotivated – and that’s okay. Our energy isn’t supposed to be the same all year round.
In fact, this season is an opportunity. A chance to listen to what your body and mind are asking for, and to meet yourself where you are, not where you think you should be.
For many WAFA women, August has become a time to pause. Not to stop completely, but to soften the pace, reset intentions, and gently prepare for the structure that September brings.
Practical Ways to Keep Moving Forward
Here are a few suggestions we offer to WAFA members that can also serve you:
- Simplify your self-care. If your usual routine is out the window, choose just one or two non-negotiables each week. Maybe it’s a 30-minute on-demand workout, or taking a mindful walk.
- Shift your focus. Instead of aiming for peak performance, aim for presence. Enjoy your workouts for how they make you feel, not what they burn.
- Get support. Whether you’re travelling or staying local, staying connected helps. Many of our members check in with their coaches or join a virtual session from wherever they are.
- Let go of guilt. Missing a class, having an extra glass of wine, or skipping your usual meal prep doesn’t mean you’re off track. You are adapting – and that’s a strength in itself.
A Personal Reflection
Every August, I find myself pulled in two directions. Part of me wants to plan and prepare for the season ahead. Another part just wants to slow down and enjoy family time. This year, I turned 53 and celebrated with a house full of loved ones. It reminded me that being fully present, even if just for a weekend, can be deeply restorative.
Our WAFA community has continued showing up in ways that inspire me daily. From holiday workouts to small check-ins, it’s clear that strength isn’t always about intensity. Sometimes, it’s just about continuing to show up in your own way.
Your Summer, Your Pace
If you’re feeling off-balance this summer, know that you’re not alone. WAFA is here to support women just like you – those navigating change, craving consistency, and wanting to feel good without adding more stress.
